A new pick-your-package setup is on the way as YouTube TV readies genre-specific plans for early 2026.
YouTube TV isn’t cheap. A monthly subscription costs an eye-watering $82.99, a far cry from its $34.99 when it launched in 2017.
And yes, YouTube TV has doubled the number of available channels and added new features. It still doesn’t change the fact that $83 — before taxes — is a lot.
YouTube seems to be aware of this, as the company has just announced that it will launch YouTube TV Plans, a pay-per-package option for subscribers. The announcement first spotted by MacRumors, says that there will be more than 10 “genre-specific” packages to choose from.
It specifically mentions a new YouTube TV Sports Plan that will offer fans access to major sports broadcasters and select sports networks. There will be options to add on events like NFL Sunday Ticket and Red Zone, while still retaining access to unlimited DVR, multiview, key plays, and fantasy view.
The details are light at the moment. While it says the packages are coming “early 2026,” it doesn’t say what the other packages are, aside from news, sports, family, and entertainment.
It also doesn’t say how much each package will cost, either. We suspect that it will, if nothing else, be less than $83 a month.
YouTube TV is an over-the-top platform geared towards cord-cutters, offering internet-based access to live and on-demand content from over 100 networks. Currently, the service is available exclsuively to subscribers within the United States.
