Britney Spears is giving herself grace this Mother’s Day weekend.
On Sunday, May 10, the Toxic singer, 44, took to Instagram with a casual update, sharing the details of a recent day spent with her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Days after leaving a rehabilitation center, she posted a photo of a yellow spotted snake along with a caption that read, “Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what what a beautiful baby snake this is… snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck… I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise…”
She added, “I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself… It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!”
The spiritual update came two months after her arrest in Ventura County, California, for driving under the influence. According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s inmate records, the 44-year-old singer was pulled over on March 4 by California Highway Patrol officers. She was booked by the sheriff’s office around 3 a.m. and released from custody hours later.
She was also ordered to submit to search and seizure of her vehicle when needed and can only be in possession of drugs with a valid prescription.
Britney will continue her mental health treatment, seeing a psychiatrist twice a month and a psychologist once a week.
The singer has been in the spotlight for most of her life, first appearing on-screen at the young age of 11 when she starred on The Mickey Mouse Club.
The singer’s mental health hadn’t raised alarm until 2007 when she was hospitalized on numerous occasions after public outbursts like attacking a paparazzi’s car and shaving her head. The following year, the Los Angeles Superior Court appointed her father, Jamie Spears, as her conservator.
In November 2021, a judge ended Britney Spears’ 13-year conservatorship, giving her back full control over her life and finances.
At the time, Britney told a judge she felt the legal agreement was doing “way more harm than good.”
