Hugh Jackman and his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness attended the Met Gala quite a few times over the years, including in 2004, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2022, and their last one being in 2023, mere months before their divorce announcement. Then, for the 2026 Met Gala, Jackman brought Sutton Foster. And it turns out Jackman warned Furness about this appearance ahead of time.
According to an insider who spoke with Woman’s Day via Sky News, he let Furness know, but that “did not make it any easier.”

“Of course, it burns to see Hugh there with Sutton on his arm. That was always their special night of nights and one of the few she actually enjoyed,” they said. “Hugh did let Deb know he would be taking Sutton this year, but that only proves he’s fully aware of how much it will sting to see him with the women who stole his heart from her.”

They added, “But Hugh’s starting to find a bit of backbone and isn’t pandering any more to hurt feelings over Sutton. She’s here to stay and he has every intention of making her a permanent part of the family.”

For those who don’t know, Jackman and Furness married in April 1996, after meeting on the show Correlli the year prior. They adopted two children named Oscar Maximillian, born in May 2000, and Ava Eliot, born in July 2005.
Sadly, the pair called it quits after 27 years together, and separated in Sept 2023. They have yet to officially file for divorce, allegedly due to no prenup being in place. Then, Jackman and Foster’s relationship allegedly began as an affair in 2022, while they were working together on The Music Man on Broadway. They had met over a decade prior, in 2008, when they saw Shrek on Broadway.
And as we said, in May 2026, they made their Met Gala debut (which was seriously shocking for everyone)!
