BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Library is honoring the music legends that helped create the Bakersfield Sound.
The library in unveiling a new exhibit, “Legends of Kern County: Portraits in Black & White”
The exhibit features 10 portraits by Patti Peak Doolittle that each showcase an iconic musician that played a part in developing the distinct county music that Kern County is known for.
Originally displayed in the Trout’s Nightclub in Oildale, the portraits will now be permanently displayed at the Beale Memorial Library.
A dedication ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 14, at the library beginning at 10 a.m.
Kern County Library Marketing and Promotions Associate Fahra Daredia joined Eyewitness News Mornings to share more details.
The dedication ceremony will feature live music from local country musicians, giveaway opportunities and remarks from local historians.
