The artist, formerly known as Cash of Hearts, said the track reflects themes of ambition, faith and perseverance while drawing on hip-hop and trap influences.
According to BIG SIMBA, the song title translates to “God” and explores the pressures of pursuing an independent music career. The release also forms part of his transition into a new artistic identity following his name change.
‘THIXO’ blends trap production with contemporary African musical influences and was inspired in part by the sound associated with artists such as A$AP Rocky.
The single follows earlier releases including ‘Clark Kent’ and ‘No Pressure’, featuring Zac Nkosi, ahead of the planned release of CHEF’S KISS in the third quarter of 2026 through his independent imprint, OCT21 SOUND.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, the artist said the song addresses “hunger, elevation, pressure, survival, and the realities of building an independent music career from the ground up”.
Promotional activities surrounding the release are expected to include a music video, radio and podcast appearances, digital campaigns and live performances.
BIG SIMBA has built his profile independently through a catalogue that combines hip-hop, melodic rap and African-inspired sounds. His rebrand from Cash of Hearts marks what he describes as a shift towards a more globally focused creative direction.
