One Texas Hill Country town has been a favorite of celebrities for years, serving as an escape from the limelight. And that trend seems to be continuing as one Lone Star State-born country star was spotted grabbing barbecue from a popular local spot.
According to an April 28 Instagram post, Charley Crockett swung by Old 300 BBQ in Blanco, which is one of a handful of restaurants just off the town’s main square.
“Thanks for stopping by Old 300 for your Texas BBQ fix, @charleycrockett! 🤠 Even cowboys need a little Texas BBQ every once in a while,” the post read. “Whether you’re a $10 cowboy or a lonesome drifter, we’ve got what you need at Old 300. #ComeandEatIt”
A spokesperson for Old 300 BBQ told MySA via email that “it was a pleasure having him here in the restaurant.”
“He received the same high-quality service and food that every customer receives when they walk into our establishment,” the spokesperson said. “No matter who you are, when you come through our doors, you will be greeted with our small town hospitality and charm, and served the most consistent Texas-style BBQ in the Hill Country.”

Who is controversial country singer Charley Crockett?
Crockett, a native of San Benito, Texas, has two Grammy Award nominations and is known for his outlaw country image, drawing inspiration from artists like Turnpike Troubadours, Willie Nelson and others. And he’s not afraid to get political – in the past, Crockett has been known to ruffle some feathers for his tendency to let his opinions fly on social media.
Back in February, he dubbed President Donald Trump a “grifter” and called out Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, saying they believe “in a post democratic society where men of their class are above the law.” It wasn’t the first time he’d spoken his mind, as the singer also took aim at the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico, saying, “I don’t recognize it by any other name.”
His music has even been heard in space, as the Artemis II crew woke up to “Lonesome Drifter” on the final day of their mission to the moon in April. Crockett commented under NASA’s Instagram post documenting the astronauts’ playlist, saying, “When I was playing on the street in New Orleans years back a woman named Angel told me I had to start down low if I wanted to get high. Lord’ve mercy was she right.”
