BRATTLRBORO — The inclusive theater company Theatre Adventure is bringing myth, movement and music to the stage this week with its original production of “Anansi.”
The performances will take place at the West Village Meeting House, with in-person shows scheduled for May 13 and 14 at 10:30 a.m. A third performance on May 15 at 10:30 a.m. will be available both in person and online.
Inspired by the legendary West African folk hero, “Anansi” follows the shapeshifting trickster on a journey to discover the mysterious “fifth element” of the world. Along the way, audiences can expect a blend of percussion, acting, poetry and movement woven into an original story created by Theatre Adventure performers.

Anansi is a figure deeply rooted in West African storytelling traditions, often portrayed as a clever spider spirit capable of changing forms and challenging expectations.
The production features actors performing both online and in person, continuing Theatre Adventure’s longstanding mission of creating opportunities for artists with disabilities while challenging traditional expectations of theater and performance.
Organizers say the show is designed not only to entertain, but also to encourage audiences to think differently about ability, creativity, and storytelling.
“Come celebrate the performers as they take the stage with courage and creativity,” organizers said in an email. “Offering an unforgettable experience just for you, the audience.”
Tickets are available online and at the door on a sliding scale beginning at $15, with $20 suggested. Organizers emphasized that no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
