In this video, I explain a South Korean art piece called “Round Table,” which is composed of 18 headless straw figures balancing a large circular table on their backs. The most intriguing part of the installation is a single head rolling across the surface; as it approaches the edge, the figures lift their backs in an attempt to catch it, which inadvertently sends the head rolling to the opposite side and creates an eternal loop. Watching from above are three vultures, which the artist suggests represent the ruling class. This setup serves as a metaphor for the working class fighting amongst itself for a prize it can never truly grasp while being observed by those in power.
