Spoilers below.
As the screen went black after the latest episode of Euphoria, many viewers might have been left wondering (or wishing?) that the end of the season was near. However, this chapter is not over yet; season 3 will be eight episodes long. With viewers on tenterhooks, HBO made an exciting revelation about the season 3 finale of Euphoria: Episode 8 will be 93 minutes long.
For HBO, the length is (almost) record-breaking. The network’s longest episode to date is the pilot of Vinyl, which is 112 minutes. Other big runtimes include the 93-minute finale of The Wire, the 90-minute White Lotus season 3 finale, and the 82-minute-long third episode in Game of Thrones season 8.
Given how grim and anxiety-inducing Euphoria’s third season has been for viewers (from sexploitation to toe-trimming to drug-induced deaths), we’re not sure whether those extra minutes are something to celebrate. But we’ll be there until the bitter end, because we’ve come this far now and, like Rue, it kind of feels like there’s no going back.
We do have one other clue about the finale episode: We know the title is “In God We Trust.”And while things look pretty scary for Rue, there are a bunch of Reddit theories suggesting that the ending might just see her get the one thing she’s always struggled to find: a stable life.
The fact that Rue’s narration often plays over the series has some viewers convinced that this means the final scenes will see her either reading a book of her life story or narrating her experiences in an AA meeting—or giving a testimony in a court or prison.
However things play out, we know it’s going to be a bumpy final 93 minutes.
