It’s Spotify’s 20th anniversary, and to celebrate, the streaming platform has unveiled a new look.
Many users this week noticed the app’s logo changed from its classic black-and-green design to a shimmering disco ball. The logo change has divided audiences, with some appreciating the new design while others saying it makes the app look like there’s a problem with their screen or that it’s showing a system update.
“Spotify updated their logo today. If it’s only temporary for the 20th anniversary, acceptable. If it’s permanent, absolutely not for me,” wrote one user on X.
Along with the logo change, the platform also introduced a new way for users to look back at their listening habits.
“Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s)” is a mobile, in-app experience that gives users a back look at their music listening history since they first started using the platform.
“The last 20 years have been defined by the fans who discover, the artists who shape culture, and the world that listens together,” wrote the company in a statement. “Here’s to the next 20—it’s all about you.”

How to see your first song on Spotify
“Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s)” gives users insights into their listening data, all the way back to when they first began using the platform.
The new analytics tool shows users: their first day on Spotify, the total number of songs listened to, their first streamed song, and their all-time most-streamed artist
The experience also provides a top songs playlist, a collection of users’ top 120 tracks. Similar to Wrapped, the data is presented in fun, colorful graphics that users can share on social media.
The insights appear on users’ Spotify homepage in the mobile app. If they do not show up, users can search for them manually by searching “Spotify 20” or “Party of the Year(s).”
