Families are encouraged to bring a small pop-up tent, lawn chairs, or towels for seating. A variety of foods will be available, including barbecue, smoked turkey legs, seafood, sweet treats, burgers, funnel cakes, snow cones, ethnic food plates, candy apples and sour fruit. Free hot dogs will be provided for children by Masonic Lodges 876 and 33 from 5 to 6 p.m. ET, and other freebies will also be available during the festival.
The Greater Valley Juneteenth Celebration has been hosting the festival for 15 years, well before Juneteenth was designated a federal holiday in 2021. Trudye Johnson, one of the organizers, said the festival is a way to celebrate the uniqueness of living in the Greater Valley Area and get the community involved in fun-filled, family-oriented activities.
“The Juneteenth Festival is just a celebration of freedom, a celebration of equality, of humanity for everybody,” Johnson said. “This is a way to celebrate the unique achievements of people from this region.”

The Greater Valley Juneteenth Celebration is a volunteer nonprofit organization and donations are tax-deductible.
