Tigerair Taiwan has named Stellar Entertainment as its exclusive content service provider (CSP) as the carrier prepares to introduce in-flight entertainment (IFE) for the first time across its Airbus A320 fleet. The partnership is enabling the Taipei-based airline to expands its onboard digital experience and introduces wireless IFE throughout its network.

Tigerair Taiwan Launches Its First IFE Platform

Tigerair Taiwan’s new in-flight entertainment system will run on Bluebox Aviation Systems’s Bluebox Wow wireless IFE platform, which the airline plans to deploy across its 17 Airbus A320 aircraft. The lightweight, battery-powered portable system streams entertainment content directly to passengers’ personal devices throughout the flight.

As the airline’s CSP, Stellar Entertainment will manage content curation, licensing, and programming across the platform. The catalog will include Hollywood films, regional entertainment, and television shows tailored to the airline’s diverse passenger base across Asia.

For Tigerair Taiwan, the launch represents the first major deployment of onboard entertainment across its narrowbody fleet. Unlike traditional seatback systems, the wireless solution allows the airline to introduce in-flight entertainment without the added weight, maintenance demands, and retrofit costs that come with embedded hardware.

As Taiwan’s first and only low-cost carrier with an extensive regional network, Tigerair Taiwan serves a wide mix of leisure and business travelers across Asia. That diversity creates different content requirements compared with airlines operating within smaller or more concentrated networks.

Stellar says its programming strategy will combine Hollywood studio relationships, independent distribution partnerships, and regional Asian content providers to build a library that appeals across different passenger demographics and route profiles.

“We’re thrilled to be part of such a meaningful launch moment for Tigerair Taiwan,” said Stellar Entertainment SVP Business Development Stanley Ng. “Introducing in-flight entertainment for the first time is an exciting opportunity, and we want passengers to feel that excitement from their very first interaction with the content. Our team will bring the same passion and expertise we apply across all our airline partnerships to ensure this catalog really delivers.“

Wireless IFE platforms have become increasingly common among low-cost and regional airlines because they offer more flexibility and can be deployed faster than traditional embedded seatback systems. Passengers access content through their own phones, tablets, or laptops, creating a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) experience that aligns with changing passenger habits.

Stellar Expands APAC Presence as Airlines Invest in IFEC

The Tigerair Taiwan agreement also further expands Stellar Entertainment’s footprint across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market, where airlines continue accelerating investments in digital cabin products, wireless entertainment, and passenger connectivity.

Earlier this year, China Airlines broadened its entertainment offering with additional premium and international content partnerships supported by Stellar as part of its broader long-haul passenger experience upgrades.

“Introducing in-flight entertainment for the first time is an exciting opportunity,” said Tigerair Taiwan Chief Commercial Officer and Spokesman Bernard Hsu. “We want passengers to feel that excitement from their very first interaction with the content.”

The partnership also positions Tigerair Taiwan to further expand its digital services in the future. While the current rollout focuses on entertainment, wireless platforms are increasingly being used as a base for broader passenger experience features, including onboard shopping, destination services, loyalty integration, and future connectivity options.

That flexibility is becoming especially important for fast-growing airlines operating in highly competitive regional markets.
