I queued for the AP x Swatch Royal Pop — the Ocho Negro — and honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. A £335 Audemars Piguet pocket watch? It sounds ridiculous. But after spending time with it, I have to say… it’s more complicated than that.Look, the Royal Oak is one of the most iconic watches ever made. And Swatch have taken that Gérald Genta design language and done something genuinely interesting with it. But is it a clever homage or just a cash grab?
