This seems to be for a number of reasons, including the way she wields “soft power” on the global stage. Speaking about his new book, Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen, author Christopher Andersen said that the princess is popular for her fashion style and the influence it has.
Talking about the princess’s influence, Andersen told the Daily Express: “For all his desire to modernise and streamline the monarchy, Charles still looks like he’d be more comfortable in the 19th century than the 21st, tending to his gardens and listening to chamber music.”
Andersen continued: “William is obviously more contemporary, but he still has that burnished veneer that goes with being someone raised in the royal cocoon. Catherine does have a queenly air about her, born of her innate sense of style known as the Kate Effect.
“We had the famous Met Gala here in Manhattan recently, but you can take all of those celebrities and roll them up into one big ball, and they would not equal the influence Kate has over what women wear. She also walks the walk when it comes to sustainability.
“Catherine can rent a dress online for $100 and blow everyone away, and she doesn’t shy away from wearing the same outfits twice.
“More importantly, she wields soft power like no one else. World leaders fall all over themselves like smitten schoolboys in her presence, and she is aware that there is much she can do for her country and the Commonwealth by simply casting her spell.”
The author continued: She has that much influence. Very few people are universally adored, even beloved, the way Catherine is. Her impact will be felt for generations.”
This showed the world she is extremely popular.
