(NewsNation) — Prince William shared new details about his wife, Kate Middleton‘s recovery following her cancer treatment, saying she is slowly returning to royal duties after what he described as “a lot” of difficult months for their family.”
Speaking during a U.K. radio interview with Heart Breakfast, William praised the Princess of Wales as an “amazing mum” and “an amazing wife,” adding the family “couldn’t cope without her.”
The Prince of Wales said he was “so very, very proud” of Kate after her recent overseas trip to Italy — her first major international engagement since completing treatment.
“I’m really glad it went really well,” William said, adding Kate had been looking forward to the trip for her childhood development project and was eager to continue working.

“She wanted to go and do lots of research. She spends, God knows how much time now, looking through all the paperwork. She’s a proper pro on early years,” he said.
William said the family is still balancing Kate’s return to public life as she continues her recovery.
“I think she’s just edging herself back into doing more and more of those trips,” he said. “Away trips like that take a lot out of you because you’re on sort of permanent receive and send the whole time. So, we have to balance that, make sure she’s okay and rested. But yeah, she’s in good form.”
Despite the challenges, William said Kate returned from the trip energized and “buzzing.”
Kate revealed in March 2024 that she was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Last year, she revealed that her cancer is in remission, writing on social media that she felt a sense of “relief” but remained “focused on recovery.”
