JAMES MORRISON is the special guest for the Script’s new UK tour.
The singer – who last year staged a surprise gig from a restaurant balcony in Nailsworth – will be a guest support act for the concerts which includes dates in Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff and the O2 arena in London.
At the event last year on the top of Amalfi Restaurant & Pizzeria in Nailsworth Morrison – who lives in the Stroud area – performed his new song Fight Another Day and Just Like A Child with his daughter Elsie.
Morrison – who has supported Stroud District Foodbank in the past – will be the Irish band’s guest at UK and EU concerts.
Morrison is a British singer-songwriter from Rugby whose soulful, husky vocals helped him break through in 2006 with the hit single You Give Me Something and chart-topping debut album Undiscovered.
Influenced by classic soul artists such as Al Green and Otis Redding, he built a reputation for emotional pop-soul ballads and strong live performances, later scoring further UK success with albums like Songs for You, Truths for Me and The Awakening.
Dublin-formed Irish pop-rock band The Script was created in 2001 by Danny O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan, later joined by drummer Glen Power.
Their self-titled 2008 debut album topped the UK and Irish charts and produced hits including We Cry, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved and Breakeven, while later singles such as Hall of Fame cemented their reputation.
The UK and European legs of the new tour run from Friday, October 30 in Dublin to Antwerp on Saturday, November 28.
Tickets go on general sale on Friday, May 29.
