In the 20th minute, Cloe Lacasse stole the ball in the box, and Palacios rocketed home her first career goal to give the Royals a 1-0 lead.
Denver tied the match up just before halftime in the 44th minute when Delanie Sheehan found a cutting Yazmeen Ryan in the box, as the Royals gave up just its second goal in the last seven games.
But just as she did against Racing Louisville last week, Tanaka scored the go-ahead goal in the second half. After Lacasse was fouled at the edge of the box by Ayo Oke, Tanaka buried the penalty kick for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
