The City of Shreveport kicked off its celebration of America’s 250 years with its Red, White and Boom celebration, and city officials announced all of the other events coming to the city until the end of the year.
This celebration at the Red River District featured snoballs, a stilt walker, face painting, balloon artists and even free Popsicles for the first 500 kids. The Shreveport Regional Jazz Ensemble put on a show with the national anthem and several other patriotic songs, and there was line dancing and even a laser show at 8:15 p.m.
This event also featured a photo booth for people to use as a time capsule, which will be collected and donated to the LSU Shreveport Archives to show how Shreveport residents celebrated the 250th anniversary.
