Hannah Einbinder is sounding the alarm about the prospect of reality star Spencer Pratt becoming the mayor of Los Angeles.
The Hacks star spoke out against Pratt’s political career while appearing at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television in Los Angeles on Friday.
“There’s a lot of wealth in this city, and I think that there are a lot of people who masquerade as Democrats or people on the left, but really, money is their key issue,” she told Variety’s Marc Malkin. “And that’s what leads them to vote for people like Spencer Pratt, who is endorsed by Donald Trump, and I will remind everybody of that. So yeah, it’s important to resist that.”
Einbinder also said she’s voting for Nithya Raman, who is currently a Los Angeles City Council member representing District 4.
“It’s very complicated,” Einbinder said. “No one is perfect, there are no perfect candidates. I’m underwhelmed in a lot of ways, but I have made the choice to put Nithya down, and that’s what we’re doing, girls!”
When Malkin said he wants to see Einbinder run for office, the comedian echoed the words of Lisa Rinna, who told Malkin earlier in the week that she doesn’t want an unqualified celebrity in the mayor’s office.
“You don’t, and neither do I,” Einbinder responded. “No. No. Spencer shouldn’t, and neither should I, OK? I’m with Lisa Rinna! I stand with Lisa Rinna. … That’s not what we want, OK? We need to have people who work in housing and tenant’s rights lawyers and people with actual expertise in these positions, please.”

Pratt, best known for starring on MTV’s The Hills in the 2000s, announced his mayoral bid in January 2025, criticizing incumbent Karen Bass for failing to prepare for the Palisades fire and her response to the disaster, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Earlier this month, Trump voiced his support for Pratt, as the Times reported at the time, “I’d like to see him do well,” the president said. “He’s a character. I heard he’s a big MAGA person. He’s doing well.”
According to UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll results released on Thursday, Bass had 26 percent support from likely voters, followed by Raman with 25 percent and Pratt with 22 percent, per the Times. Los Angeles residents will vote in the nonpartisan mayoral primary on Tuesday, June 2.
