Ted Cruz apparently really wanted a picture with Nicki Minaj, according to one of President Donald Trump‘s advisors.
On Saturday (May 23), Alex Bruesewitz, who worked on Trump’s campaign during the 2024 election and is responsible for all of his podcast appearances, got into a social media spat with Texas Senator Ted Cruz over their opposing opinions of a potential appeasement with Iran.
“Sorry you’re still salty that I prevented you from getting a picture with Nicki Minaj after you came running after her like a school girl,” Bruesewitz wrote in a response to Cruz, who called him a “young political grifter” on X.
“You’re going to get wiped out in 2028, clown,” Bruesewitz added.

In a follow-up post, Bruesewitz shared a picture that showed a blurry Ted Cruz trying to meet with Nicki Minaj.
“Not to overexaggerate, but I’ve never seen anything like it,” he captioned the post. “[Ted Cruz] and his staff literally sprinted down the hallway screaming ‘Nicki! Nicki! Nicki!’ begging Nicki Minaj for a picture. I told Ted we were in a rush, we had to get to the White House and didn’t have time to stop for photos with every fan. (To her credit, Nicki stopped and took pics with as many staffers and elected officials as she could.) We just didn’t have time for Ted. Plus, brand-wise, it’s not exactly a good look to pose with Lyin’ Ted, so I was looking out for my girl.”
He claimed that after he was turned down for the photo, he later cornered them, and his team took a photo of Cruz with them just as they were leaving. “Extremely creepy,” Bruesewitz added. “I sure as heck won’t be taking any foreign policy advice from a guy who behaves like that.”
In a final X post on the subject, Bruesewitz said that he will “always” have Nicki Minaj’s back, even if she decides to stop talking about her political beliefs. “She’s the goat,” he wrote, which got a heart emoji response from Minaj.

This year, Nicki Minaj has heavily put her support behind the Trump administration, and suggested at the Trump Accounts Summit in January that she was his “no. 1 fan.”
During the summit, she also held hands with the president and suggested that any “hate” coming her way would not change her political stance.
