Shares of theater company AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC) jumped 17.4% in the afternoon session after the company announced its highest May attendance since 2019, signaling a strong recovery in theater traffic.
AMC reported that 25.5 million guests attended its U.S. and international theaters in May, the highest for that month in seven years. A significant portion of this traffic came during the Memorial Day weekend, when 4.2 million moviegoers visited its locations from Thursday through Sunday.
