The King was announced as patron of Cancer Research UK in April 2024, two-and-a-half months after his own cancer diagnosis, as he made a return to public duties.
On Tuesday evening, the monarch, who is still living with cancer and on a significantly reduced treatment programme, spoke to guests including Sebastian Bowen, husband of Dame Deborah James, the late campaigner, known as “Bowel Babe”, about their own experiences.
The Princess, who is in remission after being diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 following abdominal surgery, was seen in deep conversation with Ronan Keating, singer, who lost his mother, Marie, to breast cancer in 1998, as well as McCall, who underwent surgery in 2024 to remove a benign brain tumour.
