Philadelphia Freedom: A Tribute to Elton John takes the stage Thursday at Party on the Patio at Mohegan Pennsylvania, 1280 Highway 315, Plains Twp. Music starts at 7:30 p.m., but arrive early to beat the crowd. Ladies, remember to leave big purses in the car. The forecast of 82 degrees and sunny looks promising for the event. Lackawanna County Heritage Fair
Carnival rides, games, food, live entertainment and free waterpark access? That’s more than fair. It’s the Lackawanna County Heritage Fair, and it opens Thursday and continues through Sunday at Montage Mountain Resorts in Scranton. Hours are Thursday, 4-10 p.m.; Friday, noon to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, June 7, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water park hours end two hours before the fair closes each day. Wilkes-Barre Cavalcade of Jazz
Paint the town and all that jazz. The downtown Wilkes-Barre event opens Friday at 5 p.m. with artists performing for free at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, 71 Public Square. It continues Saturday with headliner Bill Frisell, a Grammy-winning guitarist and composer. His show, also at the Kirby, starts at 6:30 p.m. and tickets cost $50. Other events Saturday are free. Three Links 5K
Wear your best patriotic outfit to the Three Links 5K on Saturday at Tamaqua Odd Fellows Cemetery, 503 W. Broad St., Tamaqua. The challenging run/walk traverses the historic Victorian Garden cemetery built on the side of a mountain. The top three runners, as well as the best patriotic outfit, will receive prizes. The race begins at 9 a.m. Registration costs $35 plus a $3.10 sign-up fee. There’s still time to register, but act quickly — sign-ups close at the end of Thursday.
