Music will once again take over the city later this month as Huntsville prepares for the return of Make Music Day, a citywide celebration that turns parks, businesses and neighborhoods into stages for performers of all ages and skill levels.

The Huntsville Music Office announced the event will take place Sunday, June 21, as part of the global Make Music Day movement, which spans more than 1,000 cities across 120 countries. The free, all ages celebration is hosted locally by the Huntsville Music Office and the Huntsville Hospital Music Therapy Program.

This year also brings a change behind the scenes: a new simplified registration system for 2026 designed to make it easier for musicians, venues, businesses, community groups and individuals to take part.

With Make Music Day falling on a Sunday, organizers are hoping for one of the biggest turnouts yet.

“Make Music Day being on a Sunday this year will hopefully lend to more people having an opportunity to participate and really pack the schedule with free music performances throughout the community in celebration,” Mandrella said. “We’re inviting musicians, businesses, artists and neighborhoods to join in and help create a full day of sound across the city.”

All events are free and open to the public, with performances planned throughout Huntsville.

Anyone interested in participating as a performer or host has until Friday, June 19, to register and be included on the official event schedule.
