The weekend brings First Fridays on Seminary Street, The Uncle Louie Variety Show and the last Drive-in Movie weekend, along with fundraisers, live music and more to the Galesburg area.
First Fridays on Seminary Street
What: Historic Seminary Street transforms into a vibrant, open-air celebration filled with music, food and shopping. Bring a lawn chair as seating is limited. Music on June 5 is by Bits and Pieces, who perform classic rock. There will be children’s activities with Discovery Depot.
When: 5-8 p.m. June 5

Country for the Critters
What: Enjoy a night of country-rock music featuring Clayton Shay and Jason Cross, all in support of Critter Cove Wildlife Rescue & Rehab. Every ticket sold helps rescue injured and orphaned wildlife, provide expert rehabilitation and return these animals to the wild.
When: 6-11 p.m. June 5

Drive-In Movies
What: Friday, see “Moana” and Saturday, see “50 First Dates” on the last drive-in movie weekend of the season. Gates open at 7; the movies start at dusk. Cash concessions are available on site.

Design a Floating Building
What: Test your engineering skills and make a floating building.

Cat n Around Poker Run
What: This fundraiser for Cat n Around Rescue includes the ride, live and silent auctions, 50/50 raffle, DJ Tara from 3-6 p.m. and live band “90 Proof STU” from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will be food available for donations. The last bike should be in by 5 p.m.
When: 11 a.m. June 6 (registration from 9-11 a.m.)

Lindsay Sharp Memorial Fundraiser
What: This fundraiser supports a nursing scholarship presented in Lindsay Sharp’s name. There will be events and food trucks all day. The bags tournament starts at noon. There will be a bake sale, cash bar, vendors and entertainment by Backstabbin’ Betty from 6-10 p.m.
When: Noon June 6

Cost: $10 for bags tournament
Putt for Purple
What: The Second Annual Putt for Purple Golf Outing benefits the Ohl Strong Foundation. It is a community-driven event supporting families affected by pancreatic cancer. Play 18 holes in a competitive four-person scramble format. Fee includes green fee, cart, event gifts/shirt and a post-round meal. There will be prizes for longest drive, closest-to-the-pin and putting contest. Mulligan and raffle packages are available. Post-round awards, meal and social time will be held in the club house. Learn about the Ohl Strong Foundation and how funds help families facing pancreatic cancer.

Music and S’mores
What: Celebrate the start of Summer Reading with a free all-ages concert by the Roe Family Singers. After the show, enjoy free s’mores around the “campfire.” Led by wife and husband duo Kim and Quillan Roe, the Roe Family Singers band marries old-time sounds from barn-dances, fiddle pulls and county fairs with a punk-rock sensibility and delivery. For more than 20 years they’ve been mixing original music with contemporary takes on old-time and traditional tunes into fresh yet familiar American music.

The Uncle Louie Variety Show
What: Once The Uncle Louie Variety Show begins, the audience is taken on a trip down memory lane with live original music, sketch comedy, stand-up and improv. Lou Greco and Carlo Russo take their hilarious vignettes and bring energy to them that are palpable when they’re onstage together. The opening act is Uncle Larry Reeb.
When: 7:30-9:30 p.m. June 6

Pride Picnic
What: The organization will provide meat to be grilled, a vegetarian meat option, chips, side dishes, dessert, water and Kool-Aid. Mealtime is at 1 p.m. From 2-5 p.m., there will be activities for children and games for adults, including arts and crafts and drag story hour. During this event, a mobile unit will provide free and confidential sexual health testing and information.

Sista and the Misters

What: Enjoy a morning without the big kids. If you have little ones at home and want to introduce them to the water, this is an hour set aside for you.
