Before Lamine Yamal became one of football’s brightest young stars, there was a woman who changed everything—his grandmother, Fatima.
In the 1990s, Fatima left Morocco alone and moved to Spain in search of a better future. She arrived with almost nothing: no money, no connections, and no knowledge of the language. Life was tough. She slept on a mattress on the floor and worked tirelessly as a caregiver to support her family.
Years later, her son Mounir Nasraoui met Sheila Ebana from Equatorial Guinea. Together they built a family despite constant financial struggles. During some of their hardest moments, two friends named Lamine and Yamal offered help and support. In gratitude, they named their son after them.
That child would grow up to become Lamine Yamal, one of the biggest talents in world football.
Today, despite his fame and success, Lamine never forgets his roots. He has helped provide homes for his grandmother, mother, and father, and proudly celebrates goals with the number 304, representing Rocafonda—the neighborhood where his story began.
