A quick guide to Rome’s best pop, rock, classical and jazz concerts in summer 2026.
Rome’s live music scene this summer offers a packed calendar of open-air concerts ranging from pop and rock to jazz, blues and classical, spread across some of the city’s most spectacular venues.
Circus Maximus
The ancient chariot-racing circuit at the foot of the Palatine Hill remains the grandest stage in the city, and this summer it hosts a series of concerts.
Cesare Cremonini (6-7 June) kicks off the season at the Circo Massimo with two consecutive nights. One of Italy’s most popular singer-songwriters, the Bologna-born pop star draws large crowds for live shows.
Singer-songwriter Riccardo Cocciante performs at Circo Massimo on 6 July, followed by Neapolitan rock and blues veteran Edoardo Bennato (20 July) and Patti Smith, the godmother of punk, on 27 July.
Rock in Roma
Now in its 16th edition, the Rock in Roma festival runs from 9 June to 18 July, spread across the Ippodromo delle Capannelle – which can accommodate 45,000 people – as well as the Circus Maximus and the open-air arena at the Auditorium Parco della Musica. Over the years the festival has welcomed global acts including The Rolling Stones, Guns N’ Roses, and Bruce Springsteen.
The June line-up includes The Offspring (9 June), Counting Crows (14 June), Negramaro (20 June), Caparezza (26 June) and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals (29 June).
July brings Mumford & Sons (7 July), OneRepublic (12 July), Marilyn Manson (14 July), Litfiba (16 July) and Bluvertigo (18 July).
Roma Summer Fest
The Auditorium Parco della Musica’s open-air Cavea also hosts the broader Roma Summer Fest, with a varied programme of pop, world music and classical crossover acts across July and August.
The eclectic summer line-up includes Kneecap (17 June), Ludovico Einaudi (19-22 June), Stefano Bollani All Stars (29 June), John Legend (2 July), Anastacia (6 July), Europe (7 July), Goran Bregović (8 July), Kool & The Gang (21 July), Pink Floyd Legend (24 July) and Gregory Porter (25 July).
Stadio Olimpico
Max Pezzali, the former frontman of 883 whose catchy anthems defined a generation of Italian teenagers in the 1990s, plays two nights at the Olimpico on 23-24 June.
Classical
The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia presents a series of classical concerts at the Basilica of Maxentius in the Roman Forum from 2 to 29 July. The programme includes a dance-inflected take on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (4 July), composer Alexandre Desplat conducting his best-known film scores (9 July), a tribute to Verdi (15 July) and a performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (17 July).
The Rome Chamber Music Festival returns to Teatro Argentina (18-21 June), presenting a programme that blends world-class chamber music with iconic works by American composers.
Classical music concerts also take place against the magnificent backdrop of the Theatre of Marcellus as part of the Concerti del Tempietto programme, while the Accademia Filarmonica Romana hosts a summer music festival in its gardens from 18 June until 2 July.
Summertime at Casa del Jazz
For jazz lovers, the Summertime festival at the Casa del Jazz is the highlight of the Roman summer. Running from 13 June to 7 August, the festival presents more than 40 open-air concerts featuring both the cream of Italian jazz and major international names.
Italian stars include Paolo Fresu, Stefano Bollani, Raphael Gualazzi, Fabrizio Bosso and Stefano Di Battista. International names include Cécile McLorin Salvant, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Cory Henry and Nate Smith. Four concerts take place at the Cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica: Pat Metheny (5 July), Diana Krall (15 July), Jacob Collier (18 July) and Marcus Miller (20 July), the latter performing a tribute to Miles Davis.
Villa Celimontana
The Festival di Villa Celimontana, held in the Villa Celimontana park on the Caelian Hill, offers a long summer season of around 100 concerts running until 7 September. The festival spans jazz, world music and more, with free entry.
