Kate Middleton is notoriously private about her health, especially when it comes to her battle with cancer. However, in June 2026, the Princess of Wales visited a cancer center and opened up about how her treatment affected her family.
On Thursday, June 4, Kate visited the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, where she met with patient Claire Lorente and her family. In a video posted on Instagram by Hello!, Kate hugged Clare before she rang the bell to signify the end of her cancer treatment.

Kate then turned to Clare’s family, who were visibly emotional, and said, “I know it’s just as hard for families and loved ones. I know how hard it was for the children and my parents. You go through it with them.”
This follows Prince William’s latest update on Kate’s health. During a May 22 appearance on the U.K. radio show Heart Breakfast, William raved about his wife and said he was “very, very proud” of how far she’s come since beating cancer.
“She’s been amazing. She’s been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly,” William told the hosts before pivoting to discuss Kate’s first official overseas visit since entering remission: a trip to see Reggio Emilia in Italy.
“She’d been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot. And so I’m really glad it went really well,” he continued. “She wanted to go and do lots of research. She spends, God knows how much time now, looking through all the paperwork. She’s a proper pro on early years. Most evenings, I’m fighting to get past in the bedroom, what paperwork she’s got lined up, ready to read. So, I’m so pleased it went well for her, and yeah, I think she came back buzzing.”
William added that Kate’s an “amazing mum, an amazing wife, and, literally, our family couldn’t cope without her, so she’s been absolutely stunning, brilliant.”
