We reported last month on Meta’s plans to launch paid subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. Now Instagram has confirmed the details of what people will be getting in the $3.99-a-month Instagram Plus tier.
Features include the ability to “give your story priority for your friends” as well as sending ‘super hearts’ for their stories, and creating “as many audience lists as you want” for stories. Those posts will also be able to last for 48 hours.
There will also be the option to “preview stories without the pressure to react”; get insights on how many times stories were rewatched; and even “quickly check if a specific person viewed your story”.
Custom app icons, profile-bio fonts, more pinned posts and the ability to “post to your profile or highlights without it appearing in friends’ feeds” are also part of the launch features for the subscription.
It’s rolling out globally as of yesterday (4 June). While some musicians may want to sign up, we’d advise those with growing audiences to wait for Meta’s promised ‘creator’ subscriptions, which it trailed last month as “premium tools that allow you to enhance presence, supercharge content, automate tasks and protect your brand”.
