Members of the royal family were seen beaming throughout the wedding of Peter Phillips and NHS nurse Harriet Sperling, with Prince Harry’s absence failing to cast a shadow over the occasion.
The first cousin of Prince William and Price Harry said “I do” for the second time in a private ceremony to the healthcare worker in Kemble, England.
Despite the rainy weather, members of the royal family showed in full force, with noticeable attendees including Princess Catherine, Prince William, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Princess Anne.
Prince Harry, who once held a close relationship with the late Queen’s eldest grandchild, missed an invite to the lavish occasion, along with the disgraced former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and ex-wife Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who are currently in the public spotlight amid their father’s alleged involvement with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, also attended with their husbands in tow.
Despite the absence of a once-key member of the royal family, the atmosphere appeared undisturbed, casting no shadow above the couple’s big day.

A close friend to the couple told Hello: “Peter and Harry haven’t spoken for several years and have simply lost touch, so he hasn’t been invited.”
“Peter and Harriet’s wedding is an intimate occasion with their close friends and immediate family around them in the Cotswolds. It’s an area where they grew up and is very special to them both.”
The noticeable exclusion comes after Mike Tindall’s cheeky dig at Prince Harry during a live interview, which referenced the Duke’s more light-hearted former reputation before his marriage to former actress Meghan Markle.
When speaking about his wedding to Zara Tindall during an appearance at the Hay Literary Festival in Powys alongside The Good, The Bad and The Rugby podcast co-hosts James Haskell and Alex Payne, the former rugby player joked about Harry’s former fun-loving side.
The 47-year-old joked that Haskell had managed to avoid embarrassing himself on the big day – unlike some other guests.
“A lot of other people managed that way better than you – [like] Harry, when he was fun,” he joked, as per The Times.
Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away as working members of the royal family in 2020, two years after their Windsor Castle wedding, a series of events have led to their estrangement from the Royal Family.
The quasi-royal lifestyle that couple has led has not sat well with the future monarch Prince William, and has reportedly left him less than impressed.
A royal source told Us Weekly tensions worsened following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Australian tour, with the couple’s exploitation of their royal status becoming “intolerable”.
“Their media omnipresence is something that has created continued strain. It’s been a barrier to repairing the relationship,” the insider said.
“Exploiting their royal status to earn money is making them intolerable for the palace.
“Just when the flames of controversy die down, they have an uncanny ability to start another one.”
The chances of Harry finding his way back into the good graces of the royal fold are becoming slimmer by the second, amid reports a Princess Catherine has reached a point of no return with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Royal author Russel Myers wrote in the 2026 biography ‘William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story’, that the grace the Duchess of Wales once held for Prince Harry amid the complicated and long-standing rift between the brothers has slowly diminished, particularly following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s alleged treatment of palace staff.
“She (Kate) believed William and Harry’s fundamental differences as the ‘heir and the spare’ had created the inevitability of Harry wanting more from his role than being a bit-part player,” Myers said.
“At first she had thought William and Harry’s squabbles were rooted in immaturity or stubbornness, on both sides, but Harry and Meghan’s attitude towards palace staff, who she and William cared about, set the couples on an entirely different course.”
