Three and a half months after Eric Dane’s death, his family has at least one reason to celebrate. Georgia Geraldine Dane, one of the late Grey’s Anatomy star’s two daughters, just graduated middle school.
Rebecca Gayheart, Georgia’s mother and Dane’s widow, shared the news on Instagram on Saturday.
“Congratulations, Georgia!” Gayheart wrote, captioning a photo of Georgia receiving a sunflower at the graduation ceremony. “You have graduated middle school and survived an incredibly difficult year. I am so beyond proud of you — your tenacity, grit, and grace has been on full display. Welcome to high school — I have no doubt you’re ready. I am so excited for you! Not pictured is your MVP trophy for beach volleyball. Bravo, congratulations, and I love you so much.”
Celebrities were among the commenters cheering Georgia on in the comments. “Congratulations, Georgia!” Dane’s Grey’s colleague Ellen Pompeo wrote, “Well done. Your mama’s words are perfect!”
Alyssa Milano, with whom Dane starred in Charmed commented, “Your girls are so gorgeous. Like their mama.”
Jessica Collins, with whom Gayheart appeared on the daytime drama Loving in the early 1990s, wrote, “Congratulations, GG — well done! And well done, mama! Love you all.”
Other famous folk chimed in, too. “Congratulations, Georgia!” wrote The Mentalist alum Robin Tunney. And The Madison actor Kevin Zegers added a heart emoji.
Gayheart married Dane in 2004, welcomed daughter Billie with him in 2010, and added Georgia to the family the following year. The Jawbreaker star filed for divorce from Dane in 2018 but sought to have the divorce dismissed in March 2025, the month before the actor went public with his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis diagnosis, according to People.

Dane died at age 53 on February 19, less than a year later. “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed … following a courageous battle with ALS,” his family said in a statement at the time. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”
The Euphoria actor sent his daughters a message in a “Famous Last Words” video Netflix shared online the following day. “I hope I’ve demonstrated that you can face anything, you can face the end of your days, you can face hell with dignity,” he said. “Fight, girls, and hold your heads high. Billie and Georgia, you are my heart, you are my everything. Good night. I love you.”
