Dame Dash believes Drake could best Jay-Z in the event of a full-fledged, back-and-forth beef being set in motion between the two.
There’s zero chance you need reminding, but just in case: HOV’s Roots Picnic freestyle this past weekend saw the 25-time Grammy winner being widely interpreted to have set aside some choice bars for Drake, Dame, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, and more. Prior to the freestyle garnering extensive headlines attention, Drake himself referenced HOV on Iceman, one of three new albums he dropped in May.
Dame, expectedly, has since responded to his former Roc-A-Fella partner in an interview with The Art of Dialogue, arguing that the freestyle in question was “terrible.” He also took issue with who did, and who didn’t, have some HOV bars sent their way, leading to mentions of Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent.
“Then, he’s getting at Drake,” Dame said in the new interview, seen below. “And I don’t think Drake can beat Kendrick [Lamar], but I know Drake can beat Jay. I know that for a fact. And then I was like, damn, this n***a ain’t say nothing about 50 [Cent]? I guess he don’t want no smoke with 50 but 50 been kinda quiet lately too, for some reason.”
Of course, Jay’s propensity for slick jabs is well-documented.
Next for HOV are anniversaries-celebrating performances focused on his classic albums Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint at Yankee Stadium on July 10 and July 11, respectively. A third show, dubbed “Extra Innings,” is slated for July 12.
