Jennifer Lopez may be the subject of new romance rumors with a famous co-star, but that doesn’t mean she’s not still picking up the pieces after her divorce from Ben Affleck.
Lopez is reportedly still devastated about her 2024 breakup with Affleck. “She genuinely loved him, and as clichè as it may sound, no other guy has ever come close in her eyes,” a source told Radar Online. The insider alleged that “the ultimate blow” to Lopez’s ego was the fact that Affleck “dumped her” and, since their split, “he seems so much happier without her.”
“It still cuts deep for J.Lo that she and Ben couldn’t make things work,” the source said.
According to the insider, Lopez’s heartbreak is pushing her to lean into the speculation about her relationship with her Office Romance co-star, Brett Goldstein. “J.Lo is smart enough to know that playing things up for the cameras is only going to benefit the movie, so that’s her primary reason for this flirt-fest with Brett,” said the source. “But more than that, it does boost her ego and so it has that additional bonus.”
“It’s safer for her to have a fake romance at this point than actually put herself out there for real with a partner,” the source said. “That’s another element that’s driven her to, along with the hype.”
Lopez and Goldstein have skirted around dating rumors throughout their press tour for the upcoming rom-com, which Goldstein wrote specifically with the “Get Loud” singer in mind.

It turns out that fans (and Gayle King) aren’t the only ones urging Lopez and Goldstein to date offscreen: Affleck allegedly supports his ex-wife’s rumored romance too.
“He genuinely does want to see her happy. He wouldn’t be encouraging this if he thought that Brett wasn’t a good choice. He doesn’t know him personally, but he has some friends who know Brett, and they’ve had nothing but good things to say,” a source told Closer UK. “That’s enough for Ben to root for him because he knows Jen is happier when she has a partner.”
Lopez and Affleck finalized their divorce in January 2025, four months after she filed to end their marriage. The pair married in 2022, a year after they got back together almost two decades following their 2004 breakup.
