Things have not been going right for the Kansas City Royals this season. They have had problems with their starting staff, the bullpen, and aren’t getting the most on offense from players not named Bobby Witt Jr.
And with all of this, the club sits in the basement of the AL Central. However, they are not alone as they share the same 27-39 record with the Detroit Tigers.
Looking at the bigger picture, the team is only 9.5 games behind the AL Central-leading Cleveland Guardians. So, there is still plenty of time to turn this thing around.

Royals move up the ladder following a massive week on the road
This club may already be in the process of turning things around. They are coming off their most successful stretch of the season, winning back-to-back series for the first time.
With this and the explosive offensive firepower they showed, Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter has bumped them up a few spots from No. 28 to No. 26 this week in his latest power rankings.
“The Royals just won back-to-back series for the first time all season, and they did it on the road where they were an ugly 7-20 through the end of May. A lack of offensive production has been an issue all season, but they plated 37 runs in seven games last week, with Michael Massey providing a nice boost at the bottom of the lineup.”
The Royals were able to win their series against the Cincinnati Reds 2-1 and took care of their division rivals, the Minnesota Twins, 3-1, making up some good ground.
Now, the team turns its attention to the two Texas teams. They have a three-game series against the Texas Rangers and then one against the Houston Astros over the weekend.
It will be interesting to see if they can carry their momentum into the new week.
