Billy Ray Cyrus & Elizabeth Hurley Reveal How Romance Began

When Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley revealed they were dating back on April 20, 2025, fans had to do a double-take. After all, while the two have been steady ever since, having the country singer and the British actress together holding hands on the red carpet wasn’t exactly on anyone’s bingo card.

Nonetheless, Cyrus and Hurley have been going strong in their relationship, and Cyrus is gushing all about it in a June 10 interview with People.

“She came into my life in the making of this album,” Cyrus said of his upcoming new record, titled “The Hill,” which comes out on June 16. “She came over to explore why Nashville is so happening.”

Cyrus and Hurley first met on a film set in 2022, but didn’t reconnect until after Cyrus’ third divorce in February 2025, when Hurley sent him a text.

Since then, the couple has been dividing their time between England and his home in Nashville, Tennessee. He described their international relationship as the “craziest thing” he’s ever done. “But I had to do it,” he says, “this feels like something real.”

Luckily, Hurley, who’s known for movies like Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and Bedazzled, is on the same page.

“We split our time between Billy’s farm in Tennessee and my country house in England, with brief forays into Nashville and London,” Hurley described. “We both love the countryside, where I’m usually wielding power tools in the garden whilst Billy strums his guitar under a tree,” she said.

Among their favorite activities together are watching birds, enjoying bonfires, watching Yellowstone, and listening to classic country artists like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.

“There was something in the opposites of us, I think, that maybe not only got other people’s attention but even our own,” Cyrus said about his unexpected connection with Hurley. “And I’ve never seen anybody that, in some ways, has more in common with the insanity that I have lived through in this crazy show business. Then mix in other personal, good things and tragedies — she’s like me.”

Also in the interview, Cyrus opened up about being diagnosed with vocal paralysis in 2024, following what he described as a near-fatal bout of sepsis that left him hospitalized. Throughout it all, Hurley was his biggest cheerleader.
“Elizabeth would say to me, ‘Do you understand your voice is coming back?’ She encouraged me to the point where she had me do The Masked Singer,” he said. “And she said, ‘You need to do it to challenge yourself.’ And I thought, God, why is she so smart?”
