Olivia Rodrigo suffered a “near panic attack” before her Glastonbury performance last year.
The 23-year-old singer thrilled fans with her headline set at the legendary UK music festival in June 2025 but has revealed she was almost overpowered by nerves beforehand.
In a new interview with BBC News, Olivia recalled feeling terrified she would fail as she waited to perform on the iconic Pyramid Stage.
“I remember having like a near anxiety attack in the bathroom, like, ‘How am I going to do this? I don’t know if I’m ready,'” she explained.
“But something overcame me the second I stepped on stage and started singing. I felt, like, totally calm and so in my element.”
Her energetic set was widely lauded and music fans were particularly thrilled to see her duet with The Cure’s Robert Smith.
Describing the moment as “magical”, Olivia confirmed the show was a highlight of her career so far.
When asked how she pulled off such an impressive performance, Olivia credited a traditional English dessert.
“I stayed at this (hotel) that had the best sticky toffee pudding, and I was like, ‘You know what? I gotta do it’,” she laughed, before claiming she ate three portions of the sweet treat before taking to the stage.
Olivia is a huge fan of England and recently purchased a property in London, explaining she feels “so normal ” and “very adult” in the capital city.
As she singled out Hampstead Heath as the “best place to hang out”, Olivia recalled witnessing a marriage proposal there – and revealed her wish for a similarly romantic gesture when she meets the right man.
“I’d love it if someone paid for a placard on one of the benches that said, ‘Will you marry me?’ Then you’d sit down and you’re like, ‘Oh my God!'” Olivia explained, revealing she dreams of getting engaged in New York’s Central Park.
“So spread the word… Hopefully my future husband will see this.”
Clearly marriage is something the star has spent time thinking about, as Olivia – who is currently single after splitting from British actor Louis Partridge last year – has already chosen the song for her first wedding dance.
“It’s going to be I Melt with You by Modern English. Imagine kissing and then walking back down the aisle to that? I love that song,” she smiled.
