Haltwhistle Music Festival will take place over the first weekend of September and promises a packed programme of live music, workshops and community events at no cost to attendees.
The event is open to residents and visitors alike.
A spokesperson for the event’s organiser said: “The Festival will be for everyone in the town – residents, businesses and musicians.
“More than that, we look forward to welcoming people from beyond the immediate area by highlighting what Haltwhistle offers.

“We were keen from the start to ensure that all the events would be free, and we’re extremely grateful for the support and enthusiasm we have received from our sponsors and funders.
“The aim here is to further establish Haltwhistle as a cultural and artistic destination, and make the first weekend in September a must for everyone’s diaries.”
Events will range from local award-winning folk duo Janice Burns and Jon Doran, along with Watersmeet playing in Holy Cross church, to an African drumming workshop, a screening of the silent movie ‘Piccadilly’ with musical accompaniment, and even a tea dance.
Other attractions include choral performances and an outdoor stage in Market Square for local musicians.
The event has been organised by Field Shelter, a Haltwhistle-based arts organisation, with support from local volunteers and sponsorship from businesses.

Venues throughout the town will host performances, and hospitality businesses will offer festival-themed specials – including a dedicated festival beer.
Although entry is free, visitors will be encouraged to make donations online or in person to help fund future events.
Organisers hope the weekend will become a permanent fixture and grow to include other forms of arts and culture in the future.
They believe the festival will boost Haltwhistle’s profile as a creative hub and attract new visitors to the area.
Due to capacity requirements, some events will be ticketed, although the music itself will be free at all venues.
The 2026 Music Festival will run from Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6.
