‘Broadway Cabaret’
Hot Springs group The Muses focuses on classic novels that were turned into Broadway musicals, including selections from “Sweeney Todd,” “The Secret Garden,” “Wicked” and “Les Miserables,” with “A Well Told Story, Broadway Cabaret”:

‘Opera on the Edge’
Opera in the Ozarks is partnering with the Bentonville Film Festival to screen the documentary “Aria — Opera on the Edge,” which follows four emerging opera singers as they navigate challenges and opportunities to bring “new relevance, representation and visibility to the centuries-old art form,” according to a news release, 3 p.m. Thursday at the Inspiration Point Center for the Arts, 16311 U.S. 62 West, Eureka Springs.
Two of the film’s featured singers — tenor Ben Gulley, an Opera in the Ozarks alumnus from 2007, and soprano Cecilia Violetta López — will perform live; there will also be a post-screening talk-back with filmmaker Karen Day.
It’s being presented as part of the 2026 Bentonville Film Festival; festival pass-holders will already have access but others can attend — general admission tickets are $25. Visit opera.org.

‘Legacy of Levon Helm’
“This Wheel’s Still on Fire: The Legacy of Levon Helm,” an exploration of the life, legacy and continued influence of the rock drummer and songwriter, opens with a 6-8 p.m. reception Tuesday in the Alexander Gallery at Walton Arts Center’s Porter Art Warehouse, 212 N. West Ave., Fayetteville.
The exhibition, curated by the Folk Americana Roots Hall of Fame, features first-time displayed items, including personal photographs, instruments from members of The Band, tour memorabilia, awards and interviews with friends and fellow musicians, including Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne and Max Weinberg.
Guests can follow in Helm’s “footsteps” and play the drums as a Ramble Band guest drummer; multi-instrumentalist Charley Drayton provides a video tutorial.
The exhibition remains up through Sept. 6. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 5-8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Admission to the reception is free, but it’s necessary to reserve a timed entry spot at waltonartscenter.org.

‘The Forgotten War’
The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 E. Ninth St., Little Rock, screens the documentary “The Forgotten War,” examining the three years of heavy combat in the Korean War from the perspective of soldiers that fought it, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Families are invited to celebrate National Children’s Day through the power of storytelling at Family Authors in Conversation, “a special community event featuring six Arkansas authors discussing family, feelings, literacy, and the transformative impact of books,” 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Historic West Ninth Street Corridor (Beyond the Divide), 724 W. Ninth Street in Little Rock.
Featured authors: Becca Haney of Conway (“My Mom Has No Fun”); Brandon D. Campbell of Bryant (“Oh Brother, My Brother”); Orlando M. Kendricks of Little Rock (“I Am a Superhero”); Selandria Jackson, also of Little Rock (“Raising Excellence”); Tasia C. Taylor of Van Buren (“Made with Love”); and Tiffany Lynne of Camden (“Melonie and Her Marvelous Mind”).
The discussion — set to explore such topics as literary, representation in children’s literature “and the role stories play in helping children better understand themselves and the world around them” — will be followed by a Q&A session.
