FITCHBURG — Several event are planned to celebrate to the Juneteenth holiday on Friday, June 19, including a Juneteenth Pre-Show, a Juneteenth Flag Raising, Parade & Party and a Buy Black Market, done in cooperation with the city of Fitchburg and Canvas by CoFF33 Corp., at 326 Main St.

“Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth — a time to honor freedom, reflect on our shared history, and recognize the strength, culture and contributions of the Black community,” said Canvas by CoFF33 representatives in a press release.

This year’s celebration has something for everyone, including community connections, live entertainment, family-friendly activities and fun, the press release said.

“Come together with friends, family and neighbors as we commemorate this important day through culture, community and celebration. We can’t wait to see you there,” said the Canvas by CoFF33 press release.

The Juneteenth Pre-Show, on Thursday, June 18, at 8 p.m., will be at Canvas by CoFF33 Corp., 326 Main St., kicking off the Juneteenth weekend with an evening of live music, DJs, local performers and positive energy. Featuring talented artists from across the region, this celebration is all about honoring freedom, culture, heritage and unity.

The Juneteenth Flag Raising, Parade & Party will start at Riverfront Park in downtown Fitchburg and end at Abolitionist Park, which is also downtown, near the fire station, on Friday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Juneteenth celebrations start with a community flag-raising ceremony at Riverfront Park, followed by a historic tour that concludes at Abolitionist Park. Then enjoy musical dance and theatrical performances. This event is free. Also, free food and ice cream for the first 50 arrivals.
