Royal Family joined by thousands at Trooping the Colour
The crowd started dispersing as soon as the balcony moment ended, bringing the Trooping the Colour celebrations to an end.
As a reminder, Trooping the Colour is a military parade which has long been used to mark the official birthday of the British Sovereign – in an effort to hold the event in better weather.
And this year, the weather conditions proved to be perfect for watching cavalry, carriages, and planes, planes, planes – not to mention the Royal Family.
The highlight for many will have been seeing the King and Queen appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony along with other members of the family. Prince Louis once more provided a picture-perfect moment, leaning far away from his siblings as the flypast took place, his mouth agape.
While thousands cheered as royals waved to the crowds and the Red Arrows performed a flypast, there were a small group of anti-monarchy protesters who made their presence known during the national anthem.
But most were there to see a day of pomp and pageantry – and that’s exactly what they got.
