Lionsgate’s ‘Michael’ Tops Weekly U.K. Home Entertainment Sales Chart Through June 17

Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson music biopic Michael topped the Official Film chart, the weekly U.K. home entertainment sales chart, through June 17 following its digital retail release on June 9.

Starring the late singer’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role, the movie generated $935 billion at the global box office, including $363.5 million across North American screens.

Amazon MGM Studios’ former chart topper Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling as a lone astronaut on a mission to save humanity, dropped to No. 2 in its fifth week on the chart.

Paramount’s Scream 7 leapfrogged 19 spots to No. 3 in its sixth week on the sales chart, followed by the debut of Warner’s Mortal Kombat II at No. 4. The action adventure starring Adeline Rudolph, Karl Urban, Martyn Ford, and Tati Gabrielle, generated almost $129 million at the global box office, including $79.5 million across North American screens.

20th Century Studios’ Avatar: Fire and Ash dropped three spots to No. 5 in its 11th week on the chart, followed by Universal’s former chart topper The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, down three spots to No. 6 in its fourth week on the chart.

Disney/Pixar’s Hoppers remained on the chart in its sixth week, up three spots to No. 7, followed by the return of Warner’s Oscar-winning One Battle After Another at No. 8 in its 30th week on the chart.

The studio’s other Oscar winner, Sinners, also returned to the Top 10 at No. 9 in its 53rd week on the chart. Finally, Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth moved into the Top 10 in its 43rd week of retail release.
