“Celebrity Autobiography” will end its Broadway run earlier than planned, with producers announcing that the production’s final performance at the Shubert Theatre will take place June 21 at 6 p.m.
The limited engagement, which began previews on May 16 and officially opened on May 18, was originally scheduled to continue through August 16. By the time it closes, the production will have played three preview performances and 40 regular performances.
Created and directed by Eugene Pack and Dayle Reyfel, “Celebrity Autobiography” brings a rotating lineup of well-known performers to the stage to read selections from published celebrity memoirs. Each performance features different guest stars, with Pack and Reyfel joining the evening’s participants onstage.
Despite drawing a high-profile roster of entertainers, journalists, television personalities, and Broadway veterans, the production struggled to gain momentum at the box office during its Broadway run. According to the most recent reported grosses, the show brought in $74,437 for the week.

The Broadway engagement featured an extensive list of guest performers throughout its run. Among those who appeared were Caroline Aaron, Brooke Adams, Pamela Adlon, Scott Adsit, Lewis Black, Matthew Broderick, Danny Burstein, Mario Cantone, Bonnie Comley, Katie Couric, Mikey Day, Frank DiLella, Tate Donovan, Alexander Dreymon, Gina Gershon, Mickey Gooch Jr., Kathy Griffin, Jeff Hiller, Jackie Hoffman, Christopher Jackson, and Gayle King.
The rotating cast also included Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, Stewart F. Lane, Robert Sean Leonard, Ralph Macchio, Ben Mankiewicz, Andrea Martin, Eric McCormack, Bobby Moynihan, Phil Rosenthal, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Tony Shalhoub.
Additional guest performers included Molly Shannon, Kenan Thompson, Nia Vardalos, Bruce Vilanch, Kate Walsh, Allison Williams, and producer Rita Wilson, who also appeared on stage during the Broadway run.

Wilson not only appeared as a performer during the run but also served as one of the production’s lead producers. The Broadway staging was mounted by Wilson alongside Tony Award-winning producers Eric Falkenstein and Douglas Denoff, original producer Angelo Fraboni, EP Productions, Peter Martin, and a large group of co-producers and investors.
Behind the scenes, the production featured scenic and costume design by Derek McLane, lighting design by Ed McCarthy, and sound design by Palmer Hefferan. General management services were provided by Foundation Theatrical’s Erich Jungwirth, while James FitzSimmons served as production stage manager.
