Lifetime is not exactly sending you good vibes this summer.

The cable brand’s Summer 2026 original movies slate includes a secret baby born at prom, the “dangerous obsession” of a creepy funeral director and one killer clown. If that sentence doesn’t shake you, this one should: Those are the three ripped-from-the-headlines films from the overall slate of five.

First up is He Couldn’t Let Go starring Christina Milian. After an intense work encounter that leaves a disgruntled colleague on the run, Mariana’s (Milian) quiet night at home turns into a terrifying fight for her own survival. Steven Strait, Annie Gonzalez and Gregg Wayans also star.

He Couldn’t Let Go is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios in association with Neon Kite and distributed by Fox Entertainment Global. Chad Hayes, Carey Hayes, Larry Grimaldi, Hannah Pillemer and Fernando Szew executive produce, with Ani Kevork and Carmen Milian serving as co-executive producers. Milian, Jay Glazer, Lisa Wright, Rob Belushi and Mandy Turpin produce, with Cory Miller directing from a script he co-wrote with Belushi.

He Couldn’t Let Go is already available to watch on Lifetime Movie Channel; it premieres on Lifetime on July 18 at 8/7c.

The following week (in the same time slot) marks the summer’s first borrowed real story, Crowning at the Prom. And you’re about to be grossed out by the pun.

On the brink of prom queen glory and a coveted athletic scholarship, obsessive overachiever Kat Walker (Anwen O’Driscoll) is determined to maintain the flawless image she’s built for herself and for her devoted single mother, Abigail (Danielle Panabaker). While concealing a late-term pregnancy and struggling under the weight of her pursuit of perfection, Kat’s carefully controlled world begins to unravel. When a shocking night shatters their fragile facade, both women are forced to confront the cost of control and decide what kind of future is worth fighting for.

Crowning at the Prom also stars Claire Qute. The TV movie is produced by Neshama Entertainment in association with Fox Entertainment Studios and distributed by Fox Entertainment Global. Arnie Zipursky, Dayna Zipursky, Suzanne Berger, Fernando Szew, Hannah Pillemer, Larry Grimaldi, and Todd Murata serve as executive producers. Michelle Ouellet directs from a script written by Mika Frank and Emily Silver.

The following Saturday night is Girl in the Coffin, our next real (enough) thriller. After the death of her beloved mother, Sylvie Sutter (Tahirah Sharif) is struggling to move forward when she finds comfort in Bill Trevett (Robert James-Collier), the compassionate funeral director who handled her mother’s service. But beneath Bill’s kindness lies a dangerous obsession as he believes they are destined to be together. When Sylvie suddenly disappears, she awakens trapped inside a coffin beneath Bill’s funeral home, where she discovers the horrifying depths of his obsession. As the outside world searches for answers, Sylvie must find the strength to survive and outsmart a man determined to make her a permanent part of his life.

Girl in the Coffin is produced by ITN Productions U.K., with Ian Rumsey and Nicki Purcell serving executive producing and Letitia Knight serving as a producer. The film is directed by Jermain Julien from a script written by Kate O’Riordan.

The first Saturday in August will haunt your dreams. Killer Clown, also from a real-life story, picks up decades after witnessing her mother’s brutal murder at the hands of the “Killer Clown.” Elizabeth Helmer (Sara Paxton) remains haunted by the crime that shattered her childhood. When she begins investigating the long-unsolved cold case, Elizabeth becomes the target of a terrifying copycat stalker, forcing her to confront painful memories she has spent a lifetime trying to escape. As she searches for answers alongside her father Reed (David Cubitt) and husband Dan (Hamza Haq), Elizabeth uncovers a tangled web of family betrayal and long-buried secrets. As she closes in on the truth, Elizabeth must separate fact from manipulation and fight to survive before history repeats itself.

Killer Clown is produced by Muse Entertainment. Jesse Prupas and Chris Wade serve as executive producers. The film is directed by Annie Bradley, who also serves as executive producer. The script is written by Katie Boland.

Finally, She Stole My Son’s Heart brings us a much better pun than the prom baby title.

After her last heart transplant fails, Maria (Taylor Hickson) is in desperate need of a new heart. Fearing it could give out at any moment, she turns down her boyfriend’s proposal and heads out for a walk — only to mysteriously disappear. As the search intensifies, homicide and missing persons detective Vicky (Marisol Nichols) and her rookie partner, Chloe (Megan Peta Hill), are assigned to the case. With Maria’s time running out, it becomes a race to uncover the truth behind Maria’s disappearance before her failing heart gives out.

She Stole My Son’s Heart is produced by Bruce Harvey for CMW Springtime Production Inc. in association with Studio TF1 America. Timothy O. Johnson, Meghan Hooper White and Amelia Burstyn serve as executive producers. Caitlyn Sponheimer directs from a script written by Lucy Luna.
