Fans of the royal family are likely familiar with many of Queen Elizabeth’s descendants: her children, of course, including King Charles, as well as her eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. However, her sister, Princess Margaret’s family typically has a more understate public presence, not inheriting HRH status or becoming working royals themselves. That makes it all the more exciting when a member of Margaret’s family makes an appearance at a royal event, and today was just such an occasion when her son, David Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowdon, joined in on the fun at the Royal Ascot.
David joined his first cousin, the King, and Queen Camilla in their carriage for the royal procession, accompanied by Isabelle de la Bruyere. De la Bruyere also joined him earlier this month when David, along with his sister, Lady Sarah Chatto, and daughter, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, attended the wedding of Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips.
Known professionally as David Linley, Margaret’s son was born to the title Viscount Linley before eventually taking on the mantle of the 2nd Earl of Snowdon after the death of his father, Anthony Armstrong-Jones in January of 2017. While he didn’t follow his mother into a career as a working royal, he found success as a furniture craftsman with high-profile clients including Elton John and Valentino and has also been an honorary chairman of Christie’s auction house. He shares two children, Margarita and Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley, with his former wife, Serena Armstrong-Jones. The couple announced that they were divorcing in 2020 after 26 years of marriage.
