SAN ANTONIO – Locals have several chances to mark Juneteenth this month, with events across the city highlighting music, history, and community.
A series of local events is bringing something for everyone, with everything from deep historical examinations of local culture to music, fun, and building and celebrating the local community.

In a Facebook post, the City of San Antonio invited residents to “Celebrate Juneteenth in San Antonio” and to “Honor freedom, history, culture, and community with events happening across the city.”
On June 18, “Freedom: The Soundtrack of 250 Years” is scheduled at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. The city said the evening will feature music and storytelling, including performances by the San Antonio Gospel Heritage Choir and Grammy Award-winning Sounds of Blackness.
From June 19-20, the “2026 Juneteenth San Antonio Texas Festival” is set for Comanche Park No. 2, with live entertainment, food, family-friendly activities, and community spirit.
On June 19, the “Green Book Civil Rights Tour” will explore San Antonio’s East Side, focusing on stories of Black entrepreneurship, resilience and community. The city said the tour is hosted by the San Antonio African American Community Archive & Museum.
Also on June 19, the “St. James AMEC Culture Crossing Panel Discussion” is planned, featuring historians, artists and community leaders discussing the legacy of St. James AME Church.
On June 27, the “Juneteenth Freedom Bus Tour” will take participants through Texas Black history. The city said the tour, led by Pan African Cultural Community, will include visits to historic sites, lessons about Freedom Colonies and reflection on the legacy of emancipation.

Also, this Juneteenth season, the San Antonio Juneteenth Block Party and Fair is set to take place on Saturday, June 20th, at St. Paul Square (1160 E. Commerce Street).
From the San Antonio African American Community Archive & Museum, a new cultural display at the San Antonio International Airport is showcasing little-known African-American history of Texas. Including the slave witness to the battle of the Alamo, and records detailing the journeys of enslaved African-Americans in San Antonio.
The display is free for public viewing for any travelers passing into or out of the Alamo City.
Finally, the San Antonio Juneteenth Parade will be happening at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, running from Sam Houston High School to Comanche Park #2.
Guests are encouraged to “bring family, bring your friends, and come celebrate freedom, culture, community, and history right here in San Antonio, Texas.”
