Royal Jubilee Hospital to see construction-related disruptions this summer

Island Health is reminding those who may be attending Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) this summer that they may be met with construction disruptions in the parkade.
Starting July 13, the parkade will undergo necessary maintenance work, which will temporarily impact access to staff parking located on the fourth and fifth levels, according to Island Health.
Maintenance work will occur on ramps on all levels, and at times, access to parking on levels above the ramp being worked on will be restricted, including public parking stalls on levels one through three.
To help reduce disruptions, most ramp work will take place on weekends.
“This work is essential to maintain the safety and long-term use of the parkade for patients, staff and visitors. Island Health anticipates this phase of the work will be completed in the fall, with more work planned for next year,” noted a release from Island Health.
Roadwork will occur on Richmond Road, between Bay and Newton Streets from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday to Friday. The work is scheduled to take several months to complete and will lead to traffic delays.
“As a result of the parkade work and the road construction, people attending RJH this summer are asked to allow for extra time to find parking or arrange drop-off and pick-up, when possible,” noted the release.
Island Health apologized for the possible inconvenience the work may cause, and thanked staff, patients and visitors for their patience and understanding.
