Simon Cowell’s fiancée, Lauren Cowell, is opening up about becoming pregnant with their son while she was still married to her now ex-husband and the intense media attention that followed.
Lauren Cowell, who has been engaged to Simon Cowell for five years, legally changed her last name to his in 2024, a decade after the birth of their son, Eric.
Speaking on the “Happy Mum” podcast, she recalled discovering she was pregnant in 2013 while still married to entrepreneur Andrew Silverman, who was then a friend of Simon Cowell. At the time, she was also raising her now-adult son, Adam.
“I felt like I was walking around with a Scarlet letter everywhere I went in the way people would look at me, and I was on the cover of every magazine,” she said on the podcast. “It was awful.”
Lauren Cowell described the period as one of the most difficult of her life, saying the pregnancy marked the end of her marriage.
“I have nothing to complain about, I was the one who caused it so it’s almost like I deserved it,” she said.
Despite the backlash, Lauren Cowell said she was certain of her future with Simon Cowell.
“It was one of the hardest times of my life and I knew that Simon was the person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with,” she said. “As much as I wish I could go back and take away the hurt and take away the pain that that caused for my ex-husband and for Adam and for my family and for various people, it happened.”
News of her pregnancy and relationship with Simon Cowell became public in 2013, sparking widespread media coverage. Silverman filed for divorce shortly after the news broke.
Eric has since grown up in the public eye, frequently appearing alongside his father on “America’s Got Talent.”
Lauren Cowell said she has since made peace with the past and maintains a good relationship with her ex-husband.
“I’ve done a lot of work on myself. I’m proud of me, I’m proud of my family, I’m proud of Simon,” Cowell said.
