As a general rule, no couple splits up only because of one thing. Whether it’s underlying issues or a few that just come to the surface all at once, couples call it quits for multiple reasons. For Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO, who just filed for divorce on May 18, their previously reported lifestyle changes were only half of the story.
According to The U.S. Sun, the former couple had been dealing with legal issues recently after a police report was filed by comedian Nicole Arbour on March 1. In the report, Arbour claims that she was “experiencing ongoing issues with Jason DeFord (also known as Jelly Roll) and individuals associated with him allegedly making threats toward her” ever since she turned down Ryan Upchurch, a friend of Jelly’s, five years ago.

Per the outlet, Jelly and Bunnie had been having “massive disagreements” over it, especially on how to best deal with the situation.
“He wanted to apologize and settle with Nicole and make it right,” an insider claimed. “And Bunnie wouldn’t, which ballooned into this huge sticking point in their relationship.”
Per the outlet, the police also confirmed there’s a video of the “Wild Ones” singer making a threat against Arbour’s life.

In an interview with Arbour, she explained that it all happened after she turned down Upchurch, and his friends turned on her ever since. As for the negotiations, she said things recently reached a standstill.
“We fully negotiated for a year…. it was supposed to be a settlement and an apology,” she told the outlet. “Which morphed into the publicist apparently saying, ‘I can’t apologize, it’ll bring too many eyeballs to what we did.’”
For Arbour, a settlement without a public apology just wasn’t enough. “My side was saying, ‘Without an apology…all these crazy people are going to keep coming after me,’” she said.
The negotiations eventually failed, with Arbour subsequently releasing a parody music video against them called “Cosplay Christians.”

Prior to Arbour’s eye-opening account, reports revealed to Page Six that lifestyle changes were another contributing factor in their split.
“Jelly has changed tremendously over the last few years,” the insider told the outlet. “His focus shifted to his health, faith, family and the long-term legacy he wants to leave behind.”
“Some people around them felt there was growing tension as Jelly embraced a more faith-centered lifestyle while Bunnie continued building the outspoken and provocative brand that had always been authentic to her,” a source explained. “Whether that’s fair or not, it became increasingly difficult to reconcile those two worlds.”
Jelly and Bunnie had been married for 10 years. While they didn’t have kids of their own, Bunnie was a proud stepmom to Jelly’s two kids from previous relationships, daughter Bailee Ann, 18, and son Noah Buddy, 9.
