The first symptoms appeared during the filming of the movie Enough, when she began to notice palpitations and a feeling of disconnection. Shortly after, she retired to her dressing room, where her condition worsened to the point of being unable to move or see normally.
“Suddenly I couldn’t see or move,” recalled the singer, who needed assistance to be taken to a medical center. Once attended to, professionals ruled out a neurological or psychiatric pathology and attributed the condition to a collapse due to extreme exhaustion. The artist explained that, once in the hospital, she feared it was something more serious: “I asked the doctor if I was going crazy and he told me no.”
Over time, Lopez explained that this episode marked a turning point in her relationship with work and rest, and that she didn’t fully realize until later the level of overexertion she had subjected herself to.
