The King and Queen once again led the Royal Ascot carriage
procession on Friday as the traditional spectacle continued on the
fourth day of the meeting.
After welcoming a host of royal and sporting figures across the
opening three days – including the Prince and Princess of Wales,
Princess Anne and Peter and Harriet Phillips – attention turned to
a new line-up of guests joining Their Majesties in the famous
horse-drawn landaus.
As has become one of the defining moments of Royal Ascot each
afternoon, the procession made its way down the Straight Mile
before racing got under way.
In the first carriage were The King and Queen, accompanied by HH
Prince Saud bin Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al Saud and the
King’s racing adviser, John Warren.
The second carriage carried the Earl and Countess of Caledon
together with Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber.
Australian racehorse trainer Ciaron Maher and his wife Eileen
travelled in the third carriage alongside one of Their Majesties’
trainers – Ed Walker and his wife, Camilla.
In the fourth carriage were General Sir Roly Walker and Lady
Walker, together with Lord and Lady Benyon.
The daily procession has once again provided one of the most
recognisable sights of the week, bringing together members of the
Royal Family with close friends, racing figures and distinguished
guests in a tradition which remains at the heart of Royal
Ascot.
Friday’s procession came after a week which had already seen
notable appearances from the Prince and Princess of Wales, who
returned to the meeting for the first time since 2023, as well as
Princess Anne, Peter and Harriet Phillips and a number of guests
from across the worlds of racing, business and public life.
With the final day still to come, the carriage procession
continued to provide the pageantry and royal splendour for which
Royal Ascot is renowned.
